I wouldn't mind if Yzerman traded for Chychrun but no way would i want him to give up an Eichel type package (a good young productive roster player, a top prospect, a 1st and 2nd round picks) for him. I would rather give up something like that for Draisaitl if he became available over Chychrun.

Not surprised the Wings lost to the Preds. They play aggressive/physical with skill and the Wings are not built like that. Raymond will have some work to do in the off-season to put on some muscle just like Datsyuk and Zetterberg had to to be harder to knock off the puck.

Yeah you went pretty overboard with Erne is Abby 2.0. Numerous posts about how Erne would stand in the way of Turgeon and Hirose and whoever else people thought belonged in the NHL. For what its worth, I never claimed Erne to be a goal scorer. His output exceeded my expectations. But I was 100% correct that Erne belonged in the NHL whereas Turgeon and Hirose and Kufner were all garbage. He works hard. Yzerman knew him well. Good example for incoming prospects. He's a guy that will chip in 5-10 goals a year. Nailed it. Where is Turgeon and Hirose? Haha.

The lack of secondary scoring this year on a consistent basis is frustrating. Especially on the road where the Wings are terrible. A lot of positives this year but a lot of negatives as well. I'm already looking forward to the draft.

BTW, do we have a time estimate when Vrana is back?

I speak the truth.

I'm correct most of the time.

Many of the things I'm correct about involve Wings players not being as good as most fans or media think they are. Like this memory lane about Erne blocking Turgeon and Hirose. People kept going on about Turgeon being a solid bottom 6 center. Some even said he could become a 1-2 with Larkin. I said he was garbage and people called me annoying. Seems like the same thing is going on with Zadina and Veleno. I've called Zadina a bust for years. Seems to bother people. How does he look?

He got stuffed into lockers growing up and still has an insecurity complex because of it so he comes in here where he can spew his BS without getting beat up.

Did you read my WingsNation article about the rebuild?

As for Draisaitl, I doubt Edmonton trades him unless it gets out in public that he has demanded a trade.

Jesse Puljujarvi was the fourth overall in 2016. Up until last season, everyone was calling him a bust.

He had 25 points in 55 games last season, a career high. Now, in 35 games, he has put up the same amount of points and has developed into an elite winger.

He was 22 when he started to bloom.

Not ever single player has the same trajectory. Calling a recently turned 22-year-old a bust because he hasn't quiet figured it out at the NHL level is dumb.

Get a grip kiddo.

No, not everyone was calling Puljujarvi a bust. He was promoted to the NHL too quickly. It's widely known that he struggled with English and therfore was not connecting with his teammates or even communicating well with his coaches. Smart decision was to go to Europe, get an English tutor, oh and a major hip surgery. I never called him a bust. But yeah, many did. I am calling Zadina a bust. Sue me. I said the same about Jurco, Pulkinnen, Frk...and heard exactly the same reply as you just gave me. How can you write off a guy who is only 21 or 22 or 23. Well I am. Again, sue me.

You've played in the NHL? Or even achieved any success close to that in another field?
Otherwise calling someone garbage because they struggle to achieve the very peak of their field, that less than .5% of people that play the game can is more than annoying, it lacks common decency.

Garbage compared to an actual NHL player. Nobody said anything about your or my hockey skills. It's an expression. Most sports fans say stuff like that. This goalie sucks. That QB is garbage. This coach is a clown. But OK. Tough new standard. Let's make sure all writers and posters abide by that from now on...

Again, the problem isn't having a dissenting opinion. There are many instances where I've agreed with you, and I'm also on record with lots of contrarian and less-than-enthusiastic takes about popular Red Wings over the years.

This issue is the attitude.

Unrelated: I don't know where you encountered a heap of Red Wings fans hating the Erne trade or pumping Turgeon's tires in 2019 but I don't think it was here. I went back and checked the Duff blog from when Erne was acquired and what little discussion there was about him as a player was neutral to positive.

From me:

But I also think Erne is ... probably a decent bottom six forward with a valuable skillset? Not much offense (but more offense than Abdelkader), and my admittedly early / basic read is that he's above average defensively and also doesn't completely suck at zone exits / transition ... like, say Glendening does. Hard to know how much of that is Erne and how much is just Tampa being awesome at hockey, but I think there's probably something there. He's also 24 and making a buryable salary, and an RFA after this season.

Like, it's not inconceivable that Erne is already our seventh or eighth best forward, as embarrassing as that may be.

From Feds:

I like Erne and have no problem with the move. Quite frankly I don’t care if Veleno, Zadina, or Rasmussen spend significant time in the AHL. Sure I might tune in to DET games a lot less but I don’t think it impacts development much.

As for references to Turgeon, I'm not going to waste a lot of time digging but at that point he was 23 years old and had put up 70 points in 212 career AHL games—and as a Grand Rapids resident who watched a decent number of Griffins games in those seasons, it was pretty apparent to me at least that he had no NHL future.

I think it was possible to argue over whether, at that point in the rebuild, it was better to fill the bottom of the roster with a low-ceiling known quantity or a younger player with the possibility of a higher upside, even if that possibility was a bit of a long shot.

But that's not remotely the same as asserting that Erne sucked and that guys like Hirose or Turgeon were definitely going to become a good NHLers, and I am skeptical of your assertion that a significant proportion of Red Wings fans ever felt that way. Particularly Turgeon, since he has literally never been good even at the AHL level.

Agree with Sven...
It was not this blog that people were high on Turgeon being a good prospect headed to Detroit in any capacity. Nor that Erne was blocking Turgeon and Hirose from getting into the lineup in Detroit. I have not seen any of that on this blog... so I'm calling B.S. on that.

Your problem is not your opinion... but rather your rude and arrogant attitude with every post you make. You still don't seem to get it... at this point I doubt you ever will.

Duff did a Turgeon preview blog in the 2015 offseason and it took until the third page of comments for anyone to even mention Turgeon's name. The consensus then was that maybe, just maybe, if he significantly improved his offensive game he might one day be the next Joakim Andersson.

Duff did another blog focusing on Turgeon in 2018 claiming he was competing for a bottom six spot and would be first on the call up list in GR. First post (Feds), with no follow-up dissents: "If Turgeon ... makes the team things are way worse than I thought."

This is Zadina's breakout game. Look for him to ring four crossbars and a post.
